Chen Long’s Pit Firing (PrtFiring)
Pit Firing is a smoke-firing technique within ceramic production. Pit firing evolved from the firing methods of primitive pottery and has been preserved in indigenous ceramic cultures around the world. With the development of contemporary ceramic art, pit firing has re-entered public attention, becoming a favored mode of artistic expression among many ceramic artists for its rich and vibrant coloration.
Modern pit-fired works are distinguished by their vivid, unpredictable colors and singular visual character. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation.
By his hand, wood becomes ink, fire turns into water, clay serves as paper—revealing a boundless tapestry of transformation.
