Liuli Waisted Vase 琉璃收腰瓶
The Wang Quan Liuli Glassware Series is created on the foundation of traditional Chinese liuli craftsmanship. Under light, liuli produces clear refraction and layered depth, and is therefore often used to express color and light in a way that feels more three-dimensional and spatial. Because the material flows, merges, and undergoes subtle changes during firing, and these details are fixed as it cools, each piece differs in color distribution, texture, sheen, and bubble patterns—making every work one of a kind and impossible to replicate.
This series embodies Wang Quan’s creativity with color and presents the forms of traditional Chinese vessels in a distinctive way. It moves the vessel beyond purely functional use, reinterpreting Eastern aesthetics through a fresh lens while continuing a sense of cultural memory. Rooted in a craft tradition refined over thousands of years, the works draw inspiration from the intense heat of the kiln—using fire as the brush and sand as the ink, with ideas tempered in a furnace of over a thousand degrees. Each piece is made with dedication by skilled artisans, entirely by hand, inheriting the essence of classical methods while also integrating contemporary aesthetic thinking.
